Napoleon III-era Sideboard (louis XVI Style)
An elegant, full-height sideboard made of blackened wood, featuring a solid door on the front that opens to reveal an interior of mahogany or light wood veneer fitted with shelves.
Decoration and Marquetry: The door is richly adorned in the center with a delicate Boulle-style motif or a gold decoration depicting a vase of flowers surrounded by arabesques and asymmetrical foliage scrolls. The upper band also features an elegant frieze of gilded foliage scrolls.
Ornamentation: Superb gilded bronze trim, including framing moldings with ovate friezes, four-lobed corner rosettes, and finely chiseled Corinthian capitals.
Structure: The front legs consist of freestanding, fluted columns adorned with gilded bronze rings. The entire piece rests on sturdy spindle legs accented with bronze feet.
Top: Topped with a molded, veined white marble slab that perfectly follows the protruding corners of the piece.
A classic and prestigious piece from the second half of the 19th century, ideal for adding a touch of solemnity and elegance to a living room.
