Ambroise Thomas was born on August 5, 1811, in Metz and died on February 12, 1996, in Paris.
French composer known for his operas.
He entered the Paris Conservatory in 1828 and concluded his studies by winning the Prix de Rome in 1833. He was appointed professor of composition at the Paris Conservatory in 1856.
"Mignon", his greatest success, was composed in 1866, and "Hamlet" in 1868 brought him international acclaim.
In 1871, he was appointed Director of the Paris Conservatory, succeeding Esprit AUBER.
He was awarded the Grand Cross of the Legion of Honor in 1894.
Henri Le LIEURE de L'AUBEPIN was born on May 12, 1832, in La Chapelle-sur-Erdre and died on December 19, 1914, in Rome.
French photographer, primarily active in Italy from 1859 onward, where he opened his first studio in Turin in 1861, “La Fotografia Parigina.” He settled in Rome around 1870.
A specialist in portraits, he took an interest in the stereoscopic process.
