Pair Of Normandy "cauchoises" Cabinets Made Of High-quality Solid Oak. 1960s–1970s

An exceptional pair of Norman cabinets made of solid oak, originating from the Pays de Caux region and commonly known as "Cauchoises."

These unique pieces, handcrafted by a cabinetmaker in the 1960s and 1970s, embody the excellence of traditional woodworking.

What makes this pair particularly rare is not only its remarkable condition but also the exceptional quality of its design.

Unlike many 20th- or 18th-century cabinets we typically offer, these stand out for their thicker oak construction, mortise-and-tenon joints of rare precision, and meticulous finishes.

The three interior shelves, made of solid beech with rounded edges, add a touch of elegance and functionality.

Each cabinet opens with two doors equipped with independent locks, ensuring practical and secure use.

Their corbeled cornice with a “gendarme’s cap” is an architectural detail typical of Norman furniture, adding a touch of refinement to their imposing silhouette.

Dimensions:

  • Height: 225 cm
  • Width (without cornice): 142.5 cm / (with cornice): 155 cm
  • Depth (exterior): 57 cm / (interior): 49.5 cm

In very good condition, these cabinets combine sturdiness, timeless aesthetics, and artisanal craftsmanship. A unique opportunity to acquire a piece of furniture that is both functional and steeped in history.
