This composition reproduces, with a few variations, a portion of a larger painting, a “Outdoor Scene” that was auctioned at the Charpentier Gallery in 1957 and attributed to François Boucher (see photo).
Despite some retouching in the painting, one can recognize the very distinctive brushwork of François Boucher or one of his followers—perhaps Noël Hallé, another painter with a similar style, featuring a very smooth brushstroke and a very warm color palette, while remaining within the primary colors and the characteristic combination of pink and blue tones.
