Bronze Commemorative Plaque, Professor C. Audry, 1934

Bronze commemorative plaque with a black patina, created in 1934 in memory of Prof. C. Audry (1865–1934). He was Charles Audry, a renowned dermatologist and venereologist from Lyon and a professor at the Lyon Faculty of Medicine.

  • On the left: A standing female figure, “ΑΦΡΟΔΙΤΗ” = Aphrodite in Greek. The serpent coiled at her feet evokes Asclepius/Aesculapius, the symbol of medicine. This is a classical homage: Aphrodite represents venereology, Prof. Audry’s specialty.
• Style: Art Deco, very clean-lined and geometric, typical of the 1930s.
