XVIIth - Allegory Of Fertility, Also Known As Charity

A beautiful oil on canvas depicting "The Allegory of Fertility, also known as Charity." Painting dating from the 17th century, relined.
This work is a 18th-century reproduction of the painting by Francesco Albani (1578–1660), formerly owned by Louis-Antoine Crozat, Baron de Thiers (1700–1770).

This beautiful painting is based on the original work by Francesco Albani, known as “l’Albane,” which is owned by the Louvre Museum, where it was already housed in the 18th century.

In the center is a woman dressed in red, surrounded by three cherubs: while she nurses one of the children, the other two are embracing her. One of the children is holding a pomegranate in his hand.
Two allegories intertwine: Charity, represented by the woman dressed in red nursing her child, who holds a burning heart (the split pomegranate) in one hand; but also Fertility, represented by the pomegranate—a symbol of abundance—and by the three putti surrounding the young woman as she nurses.
