Le Verre Français / Charles Schneider - “digitale” Table Lamp - Art Deco, 1925
Artist: Le Verre Français / Charles Schneider
Elegant Art Deco table lamp by Le Verre Français, the celebrated line created by Charles Schneider and associated with the great French decorative glass tradition of the 1920s.
This model, known as “Digitale”, was produced circa 1925–1927. It is made in layered glass with interlayer powder inclusions, a technique typical of Schneider’s production, allowing rich colour effects and subtle depth within the glass.
The lamp has a baluster-shaped stem on a circular base with three hot-moulded notches. It is fitted with a blackened wrought-iron mount with three arms supporting a flattened conical shade. The decoration shows stylised red foxglove flowers against a pink marbled ground, with darker contrasting motifs giving the piece a strong Art Deco presence.
The lamp is signed “Le Verre Français” on the base.
Le Verre Français pieces are appreciated for their vivid colours, stylised natural motifs and technical glasswork. The “Digitale” model is a beautiful example of the transition from Art Nouveau floral inspiration to the more modern and graphic language of Art Deco.
