Music chair designed by Carlo Bugatti (1856–1940), created around 1900, a true masterpiece of Italian Art Nouveau design.
This iconic piece exemplifies the avant-garde style of the renowned designer, blending Oriental, Japanese, and Moorish influences. The carved and turned wooden frame is adorned with geometric metal decorations and refined inlays.
The curved backrest, covered in parchment decorated with a stylized plant motif, as well as the circular parchment seat, are enhanced by rich trimmings of braids and long silk tassels—hallmarks of Carlo Bugatti’s aesthetic.
With its asymmetrical legs and sculptural appearance, this chair transcends its mere function as a piece of furniture to become a true work of decorative art.
