Covered Porcelain Vase From Sèvres, Stamped, 19th Century
19th Century
Exceptional Covered Sèvres Porcelain Vase, 19th Century.
This baluster-shaped porcelain covered vase, resting on a circular pedestal, is adorned with a delicate, entirely hand-painted design of roses, forget-me-nots, and wildflowers, harmoniously arranged against a white background. Its dome-shaped lid is fitted with a small handle. The borders, neck, pedestal, and lid handle are accented with attractive gilding. The reverse bears a red stamp reading “Déposé à Sèvres,” accompanied by a monogram and the number 96 (1896), the year the painting was completed, and another hallmark bearing the inscription “S 95,” for 1895, the year of manufacture.
A very beautiful work of art with understated and elegant lines. This piece exemplifies the elegance and refinement of French productions from the Belle Époque; the delicacy of the floral decoration, the balance of its proportions, and the quality of its craftsmanship embody the prestige of fine French porcelain.
19th-century piece.
