History: Jacques Bergmans was a Belgian painter, born in Ghent, Belgium, in 1891. He died in 1959. He painted cityscapes, genre scenes, landscapes, seascapes, still lifes, and portraits.
A student of J. Delvin at the Ghent Academy, he later taught at the city’s industrial school, where he began exhibiting his work in 1918. On the back of this canvas is a nude study.
