Art Deco Beauty Set In Guilloché-engraved Gilded Metal, Circa 1930

Elegant makeup case made of finely guilloché-engraved gold-plated metal, Art Deco period, circa 1925–1935.

Rectangular in shape with rounded corners, it features a pattern of fine fluting accented by a plain cartouche. The interior features a powder compartment that still holds its original pink down powder puff, as well as a compartment designed to hold lipstick or a solid cosmetic. It has retained its black silk wrist strap finished with a tassel, a characteristic accessory of toiletries cases from this era.

An old engraving bearing the first name “Suzanne”, followed by a surname that is now difficult to decipher, discreetly personalizes the object and lends it an extra layer of history.

In good condition. Original powder puff and strap. The gilding shows some signs of wear, revealing the underlying metal in places, but this does not detract from the overall appearance of the piece. No hallmarks or manufacturer’s marks observed.
