Henrique Medina de Barros, born on August 18, 1901, in Porto, and died on November 30, 1988 (at age 87), was a Portuguese painter.
Born on August 18, 1901, in Porto, he was the son of a Portuguese mother and a Spanish father. In 1919, he interrupted his studies at the Porto School of Fine Arts (Escola Superior de Belas Artes do Porto) and went on to study in Paris under Fernand Cormon and Christian Bérard. Medina was an academic painter during the Modernist period, and his later career as a portrait painter gained international recognition.

Original oil on canvas, 65x54 cm, in very good condition, cleaned and varnished. Very minor restoration on the abdomen (small patch on the back) and tiny, normal touch-ups.
Frame 76.5x65.5 cm, likely the original frame, made of wood and gilded stucco; it needs to be restored or replaced with a larger frame. Original period label bearing the artist’s name, possibly from an exhibition.
The painting will be sold shipped (or delivered) with its frame but packed separately in the same package to avoid any risk of damage to the painting.
