Ottoman Turkish Snuffbox, Carved Wood, Mosque, Trophy Of Arms, Stars, 19th Century
TurkishOttoman snuffbox made of carved wood, depicting on one side a trophy of weapons with banners, flags, stars, and arabesques; on the other, a mosque with two minarets, with an inscription below bearing a date (Hijri 122?), most likely crafted by a prisoner during the 19th century.
This snuffbox is in good condition and of fine quality. It features a double-rotation opening mechanism at the top.
Please note: tiny cracks in the wood, slight signs of wear from age; see photos.
