Provenance:former collection of Madame Renée Houlière; drawings gifted by KarlLagerfeld to Renée Houlière (1928–2020), workshop manager at theAnita Briey atelier of the House of Chanel. AnitaBriey, born in 1939, began working at Jacques Fath at the age of 16.On August 17, 1955,she joined the House of Chanel as a seamstress, which was still headed at the time byMademoiselle Chanel. She later worked at the House of Chloé withKarl Lagerfeld, who would never want to part ways with her again. Anita Briey approachedsewing as a calling. Their professional relationship lasted for morethan forty years, until the designer’s death in 2019.
