Art Nouveau Secretary Desk, Nancy School, "flowering Marsh And Dragonfly"
A superb writing desk made of solid walnut, featuring moldings, carvings, and inlays on all sides.
It rests on a curved base with overhanging molding; it opens to reveal a drawer with scroll-cut edging around the top, a drop-down panel revealing a well-organized interior, and two drawers on the dovetail-jointed step.
It features a beautiful marquetry design of water irises and a dragonfly; the drop-down panel is carved with incised details on the front.
Gilded bronze lock plates and keys; the leather has been replaced.
Beautiful quality of cabinetmaking.
