Artist: Julien de Paris (18th–19th centuries).
Miniature portrait of a young man. It is signed at the bottom left “Julien de Paris” and dated 1802. Julien, born in Paris in the 18th century, worked as a miniaturist and, above all, as an engraver in Lyon; he always signed his work “Julien de Paris.” (Ref: Dictionary of Miniaturists, Léo R. The rectangular miniature is painted on high-quality material and set in a blackened wooden frame edged with gilded bronze; the frame shows signs of normal wear and tear and aging (see photos).
Period: early 19th century.
Condition: As found, in good condition; the frame shows signs of wear from use and age.
