Charlemagne's Portrait Set In Baccarat Crystal
A cameo of Charlemagne set in Baccarat crystal
“ Charlemagne, the heroic conqueror who succeeded in unifying Western Europe into a vast Christian empire”
“Great Figures of French History” edition by Le Médailler, a Parisian collector’s item house, and Baccarat Crystal, founded under Louis XV in 1764
This collection, issued in a single, strictly limited edition, was available only by personal invitation from Le Médailler
The cameo portrait is set in the purest lead crystal by the master artisans of Cristallerie de Baccarat, who use a process known only to the world’s greatest glassmakers. The crystal cameo is hand-cut and hand-carved with the same meticulous care required for diamonds. Each piece is individually hand-polished to achieve maximum brilliance. The hallmarks of the medalist and Baccarat are stamped on the underside. The immaculate whiteness of the cameo stands out in magnificent contrast against the cut and colored background. The mold used to create this cameo collection was destroyed to guarantee the exclusivity of this 1976 limited edition.
