Imposing Copper Vase, Persian-ottoman Islamic Art, 19th Century, Ref. 1168
Persia, an important, finely chiseled copper vase.
The vase is made of chiseled copper and tin-plated on the inside; the medallions are adorned with scenes of life at the Shah’s court: audiences, meals and hookahs, horsemen, battles, executions, and the harem.
A frieze inscribed with Kufic calligraphy is engraved on the neck.
This is a Persian piece from the late 19th century.
Period: late 19th century.
Condition: as found, in good condition, with a lovely antique patina; minor chips and dents in various places on the body and base (see photos).

Width at the base: 18.5 cm.
