Vermeil Cross, France, 19th Century
A large vermeil silver cross, featuring balls engraved with arabesques, as well as friezes of pearls and waves along its two crossbars. It is adorned with garnet cabochons on each side.
Its original chain resembles a rosary composed of garnet beads interspersed with vermeil spheres, the whole creating a perfect harmony with the cross.
French work from the late 19th century.
Hallmarks:
Fine silver hallmark: boar’s head (silver, minimum fineness 800/1000).
Goldsmith’s mark: present, but difficult to read.

Spheres: 1.8 cm in diameter.
Rosary beads: 0.8 cm in diameter.
