Covered Bowl - Jade Incense Burner - China - 20th Century
A magnificent covered cup with a long handle, used as an incense burner or a ceremonial ladle in Chinese tradition, often referred to as a “Ruyi specter.” Carved from hard stone, likely jadeite, it features beautiful translucency and a celadon green color with darker areas of natural inclusions. The lid is beautifully carved with archaic scrollwork, allowing the incense smoke to escape. The style is inspired by archaic jades from the Shang and Zhou dynasties, featuring a geometric Greek fret pattern around the rim of the bowl and lid.
Produced in the late Qing Dynasty or the Republican period (1920–50).
Pieces are in good overall condition and complete; rare with its lid.
Height 11 cm, Length 31 cm, Width 15 cm
