Saint-claude Reliquary
Rare early 18th-century reliquary, Saint Claude (Claudius), a 7th-century bishop.
Contains relics and beautiful paper inserts.
In the central medallion, an embossed image of Claudius.
The entire piece is encased in its period glass, sealed at the back with an antique watermarked paper, never opened.
Period gilded wooden frame showing some signs of wear.
The glass is stained on the inside; I did not want to open the frame to clean it, but it is possible to do so carefully.
Also note that a few small pieces of paper from the top have come loose and are now on the lower inside of the frame.
A beautiful collector’s item that has retained all of its authenticity.
