A rare antique piece, entirely handcrafted from a very beautiful variety of brown/yellow marble featuring numerous inclusions.
Throughout the “Grand Tour” period, many artifacts were reworked from fragments of rare, ancient marble; this obelisk clearly belongs to this category of objects, most often produced in Rome and its surroundings by specialized workshops.
In very good condition with a beautiful antique patina.
