There areflags, a torch, an arrow (above which are two birds facing each other), ahelmet, a shield, axes, rifles, banners, and a book with the inscription“To Knight Bayard.”
The drapery frames this design in the style of a canopy bed set against afleur-de-lis background.
The frame is surrounded by stylized S-shaped scrolls.
The floral decoration on each side includes a Louis XVI.
This rosewood background is enhanced by a rosewood frieze,the whole set off by a scalloped boxwood border.
This same decorative motif is found on the wooden gallery.
The marquetry band harmoniously combines curves and counter-curves.
It complements perfectly the delicacy of the openwork legs and the delicacyof the marquetry-covered top.
The interplay of solid and openwork creates a sumptuous balance.
The legs, crossbar, and gallery feature sidesveneered with cross-grain wood.
The sides of the legs and the H-shaped crossbar are veneered with afern pattern.
