This rare plate, produced in Italy shortly after World War I, commemorates the number of casualties from each country involved in the “Great War.” Each skull—a vanitas and memento mori—is marked with the name of the nation and the number of casualties. A memento mori that remains as relevant as ever! It was crafted from an alloy and finished with an antique bronze patina.
