Raymond Moretti (1931–2005) was a versatile French artist, renowned for his expressive style that blended painting, sculpture, and illustration. Born in Nice, he began to attract attention in the 1950s with works such as Le Monstre,a monumental 20-metric-ton sculpture installed beneath the plaza at La Défense in Paris. He also made a name for himself as an illustrator of art books and major cultural projects, such as Les Illuminations de Rimbaud, which received international acclaim. Passionate about urban culture, he often explored themes of the modern city and nightlife in his creations, earning him the title of “ visionary” from his contemporaries. A. Forville
