The blades are stained; the cutting edge remains sharp
Included is a twelfth knife of a very similar design, without a monogram, and slightly larger (26.2 cm)

The handles are not hallmarked.
However, these knives can be attributed to Christofle, supplier to the Royal Household, of whom we know several cutlery sets of this same model bearing the Orléans coat of arms (notably that of the Château d’Eu, some pieces of which have, incidentally, just been auctioned at Drouot by Collin du Bocage).

The intertwined letters A and O beneath the crown of the princes of the blood refer to the cipher of Princess Adélaïde d’Orléans (1777–1847), the younger sister of King Louis-Philippe I of France, over whom she exerted great influence.
A key figure in the Restoration and the July Monarchy, Adélaïde died at the Tuileries Palace on December 31, 1847.
