Scandinavian Desk From The 1950s–1960s
Scandinavian desk from the 1950s–1960s made of exotic wood veneer
Elegant Scandinavian desk dating from the 1950s–1960s, crafted from exotic wood veneer in warm amber tones.
With its clean lines, minimalist design, and perfectly balanced proportions, this desk embodies all the refinement of postwar Nordic design. Its timeless aesthetic allows it to fit seamlessly into both a contemporary interior and an elegant country home.
Placed in front of a floor-to-ceiling window or at the heart of a refined office, it will add a touch of understated, sophisticated character. All it needs is a beautiful table lamp to create a warm and inspiring workspace.
Particularly noteworthy, this desk was designed to be admired from both sides:
- On the user’s side, two recesses provide easy storage for documents, files, and desk accessories.
- On the visitor side, the open niches form a small built-in bookshelf, creating a particularly striking decorative display.
Its airy design and architectural silhouette make it a piece that is as practical as it is elegant.

Condition Report
The desk is presented in its original condition.
As visible in the photographs, the top shows some signs of wear, stains, and marks of age. These imperfections were intentionally photographed to accurately reflect its condition.
A simple polish will be enough to restore the veneer’s luster. For enthusiasts of restored furniture, a cabinetmaker can easily restore it to its former glory. Personally, I find that it retains a great deal of charm in its original state, with this authentic patina acquired over the decades.
A beautiful piece of Scandinavian design—decorative, functional, and timeless.
