Bronze Statue Of Francis I Hunting A Wild Boar
A student of François Joseph Bosio and Baron Gros—just like Antoine-Louis Barye—Gecheter is best known for his bronzes. His first exhibition, held in 1824, focused on classical and mythological subjects. Starting in 1830, like Barye, he shifted to smaller sculptures and animal themes. He displayed a particular talent for historical scenes, depicting figures in elaborate costumes, which are now preserved in the Louvre, Blois, and Bordeaux museums.
