Walnut Burl Display Cabinet – Double Body, 19th Century

Two-piece bookcase, Lombardy
second half of the 19th century (circa 1850-1870).
The supporting structure (frame) is made of
solid oak, with poplar interiors.
The front (doors and frames)
is covered in fine walnut burl veneer
with a mirrored grain,
while the outer sides feature
vertically grained walnut veneer.
The upper section features original blown glass.
The piece, without drawers, is designed as a
study bookcase or display cabinet.
The upper shelves are mounted on a ladder and can
be adjusted to different heights.
The structure is composed of two stackable parts that can be
separated for easier transport.
Restored and polished with shellac,
there are antique locks that work with a key.
