19th-century French Tapestry, “the Wolf, The Fox, And The Monkey”

19th-century French tapestry, monogrammed RRC, probably based on a design by Nicolas Edward Gabé, inspired by Jean de La Fontaine’s Fables.

The scene, set within a floral medallion on a cream background, depicts an episode from the fables: a wolf presenting his case to a fox before a monkey acting as judge. The composition is framed by garlands, foliage, and arrangements of fruits and flowers.

Mounted in a wooden frame.
Dimensions: 252 × 131 cm.
