A two-drawer desk and its Art Deco-era armchair. The desk is made of ribbed, molded, and carved mahogany. The visitor side is divided into three panels, each featuring a medallion—two round and one oval—with decorative motifs crafted from precious wood and mother-of-pearl marquetry on a Macassar ebony veneer background. The work side opens with a central drawer; each side cabinet opens to reveal four drawers with fronts featuring decorative motifs crafted from precious wood and mother-of-pearl marquetry on a Macassar ebony veneer background—the bronze pulls echo the decorative motif. The top features a leather-covered writing pad (not original) on a Macassar ebony background. The legs are carved and feature geometric motifs. 1920s. Stamped “MAJORELLE Nancy” with a mother-of-pearl scallop shell inlay on one side panel. Shows signs of use; the leather on the writing pad has been replaced. The armchair is made of ribbed and molded mahogany. It features openwork sides, a cage-style base, and curved armrest fronts. The armrest finials feature the signature motif in marquetry of precious woods and mother-of-pearl. The seat and backrest are gondola-shaped and (re)upholstered in ivory-colored leather. 1920s.
