18th-century Monolithic Granite Roadside Marker
Monolithic granite milestone dating from the 18th century. It rests on a square base for ground anchoring. Several milestones are available in addition to the one shown in the first image (see photos). Some feature a carved number (road number) with traces of red or yellow paint (National or Departmental roads) still partially visible on the top, depending on each one's age-related wear.
These milestones are carved directly from a solid block of granite, a process of shaping natural stone that is entirely different from cast concrete manufacturing. Their rarity lies in their age and the quality of the material. They can be repurposed for a property entrance, to delineate a driveway, or as a decorative and historical feature in a garden or outdoor space, according to your inspiration and needs.
Dimensions :
- Total height : approximately 100 cm
- Conical section : 63 to 75 cm high
- Diameter : approximately 32 cm
Please note : the price shown is for one milestone (the one featured in the first photo). Do not hesitate to contact me for further information.
