Sevres Porcelain Plate, Louis-philippe Period
An elegant hard-paste porcelain plate from the Royal Porcelain Manufactory of Sèvres, produced during the reign of Louis-Philippe and dated 1849. With a contoured shape and scalloped decoration, it features in its center a delicate polychrome composition of fruits and flowers, painted with great refinement: blooming roses, wildflowers, plums, and apricots come together to form a naturalistic bouquet of remarkable freshness.
The marli is entirely covered in the famous Sèvres blue—deep and luminous—enhanced by a fine serrated gold border around the edge as well as a gold line highlighting the central design. The piece as a whole attests to the quality of craftsmanship and the expertise of the Sèvres porcelain manufactory in the mid-19th century.
On the reverse, the painted mark “S.49” corresponds to the Sèvres manufactory and the year 1849.
A highly elegant decorative piece, characteristic of the refined taste of the Louis-Philippe period, ideal for complementing a collection of 19th-century French porcelain.
