Pair Of Italian Empire-style Side Tables, Early 19th Century
Pair of Empire-style side tables in cherry wood. Marbled wood top added at a later date, under-top band with carved rosettes and gilded leaf-motif moldings, four turned column-like legs with Corinthian capitals and gilded bases, resting on a shaped, paneled base with a herringbone pattern, plinth feet with carved rosettes echoing those on the band. Interior made of fir. Originally, they featured recessed marble tops, and it is likely that a sculpted vase was housed in the space where the turned plug is now located at the center of the base.
