Czechoslovakian Amphora: Art Deco-era Glazed Earthenware Vase
The stamp visible on the underside of the base appears to read “amphora tchécoslovaquie,” a manufacturer known for its decorative ceramics inspired by Art Deco.
The decoration on this vase is particularly distinctive:
- a mosaic-style geometric frieze in cobalt blue and pink,
- white crackled background,
- stylized motifs of crabs and seaweed evoking the marine world,
- relief cloisonné glazes,
- predominantly blue, green, and coral—highly decorative.
The piece as a whole evokes works from the 1920s–1930s, in the spirit of artistic ceramics.
