Louis XVI Half-moon Dresser – Late 18th Century
An elegant, half-moon-shaped period dresser from the Louis XVI era, crafted in the second half of the 18th century and characterized by the refined, curved line on the front, typical of the French Neoclassical style.
The piece features two large drawers on the front and a harmonious structure supported by slender truncated-pyramid legs. The surfaces are decorated with a delicate polychrome lacquer finish, embellished with molded profiles and elegant period handles and vents.
Particularly noteworthy is the top in Breccia di Verona marble, recognizable by its characteristic reddish-pink background crisscrossed by veins and irregular white and ivory fragments. This marble, quarried in the Verona area and highly prized during the 18th and 19th centuries, was frequently used in fine furnishings due to its strong decorative value and chromatic elegance.
