Four-Seat Carved Walnut Sofa. Venice, mid-18th Century.
211 x 60 x h 88 cm.
Four-seat sofa in carved walnut, attributable to Venetian production of the mid-eighteenth century. The open backrest is articulated in four shaped panels with interlaced volutes, joined by carved foliage and floral elements. The scrolled armrests connect to the frame with a fluid, curvilinear profile. The shaped apron, enriched with floral carvings, is supported by six cabriole legs ending in paw feet (a characteristic solution of Venetian Baroque cabinetmaking), lending the piece movement and elegance.
