Antique Narrative Patchwork “le Pain Quotidien” – Hand‑executed Embroidery, Appliqué And Quilt

A textile composition created using patchwork of applied cotton fabrics, lined, quilted, and hand-embroidered. A fine example of contemporary European folk art.

One of the panels bears the embroidered inscription “LE PAIN QUOTIDIEN”.

The work consists of twelve panels, arranged in a grid, each illustrating a scene from the traditional bread-making cycle, from harvesting to baking. The motifs, created using multicolored fabric appliqués, depict people at work, sheaves of wheat, farm animals, and various scenes of rural life.

Condition: excellent overall condition. The colors are fresh and well-preserved, the appliqué and embroidery are securely fastened, and the quilting is stable and even. The panel is also pre-equipped on the back with a hanging system and is therefore ready to be hung on the wall.
