Small Lady's Desk With Marquetry, Louis XV Style – First Half Of The 20th Century

This small lady’s desk, crafted in rosewood and palisander marquetry in the Louis XV style, features a delicately curved silhouette whose surfaces are enlivened by a refined latticework design, as light glides over the subtle contrasts of the precious woods, while the lid—adorned with a finely chiseled bronze keyhole and fitted with a working key— opens gently to reveal a charming interior composed of five small drawers harmoniously arranged around a central niche, forming an intimate and refined space dedicated to writing and correspondence. The undulating waistband, faithful to the sinuous aesthetics of the 18th century, conceals an additional drawer adorned with delicately crafted handles and also featuring its own bronze keyhole and functional lock, extending the piece’s elegance with a touch of discreet practicality. The piece rests on graceful, curved legs, accented with bronze finials and spurs that brilliantly complete the piece’s silhouette, giving this small secretary desk a presence that is at once refined, feminine, and timeless, ideal for enhancing an interior seeking charm, authenticity, and distinction.
