Rare 19th Personalized Drinking Horn, "agurto", Silver Mount, Latin America.
A curious little drinking horn with a silver band, likely made from a ram's horn, early 19th century.
The silver mount bears the name "JUAN FERMIN 2d AGURTO" around the neck, and at the tip, it is engraved with a cursive "E," accompanied by a square symbol.
The horn is very thin and translucent, barely 1 mm thick.
No hallmark is visible on the mount; a small silver chain connects the neck to the tip, and a flat base allows it to stand upright.
Engraved round and spiral patterns adorn the body of the object.
Its small size suggests it was a gift for a birth or a "Communion"; the surname Agurto is found mainly in Latin America, particularly in Chile...
In very good condition with normal signs of use; the object is watertight.
Length: 12.5 cm; width: 6 cm; height: 10.6 cm
Weight = 134 grams
Extremely careful shipping at an additional cost, to be determined based on destination.
