An old fragment of a vanity piece, a sculpture of a skull dating from around 1800.
Made from a mixture of plaster and papier-mâché, with traces of the original polychrome paint remaining.
A layer of suitable varnish preserves and solidifies this composition.
Presumably a memento mori situated at the foot of an imposing Christ figure.
Perfectly presented on a turned wooden base in the Napoleon III style and period.
