Biography:
Charles Théodore PERRON 1862/1934
Charles Théodore Perron, born in Paris’s 10th arrondissement on October 16, 1862, and died in Bourg-la-Reine on December 18, 1934, was a French sculptor.
A student of Falguière, Roy, and Louis-Auguste Hiolin, he was active in Paris and exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français beginning in 1895. He received an honorable mention in 1896 and subsequently received a third-class medal in 1897, a second-class medal in 1899, and an honorable mention in 1900 at the World’s Fair. He won a first-class medal at the 1910 exhibition and participated in the Royal Scottish Academy Exhibition in 1912.
His studio was located at 35 Rue Humboldt from 1895 to 1905, 16 Boulevard Saint-Jacques in 1907, and 6 Rue Dareau in 1912.
In 1905, he was listed at the Salon des Artistes Français at the same address, 35 Rue Humboldt, where he exhibited a portrait of La Tour d’Auvergne.
His best-known work, L’épave, a marble statue inspired by a poem by François Coppée, was exhibited at the Salon in 1897. He is also known for Espieglerie, a marble statue, and Surprise, a bronze group, both submitted to the 1899 Salon. Finally, he created numerous decorative groups inspired by the Art Nouveau spirit.
