Gaston-Jules-Louis Durel was a landscape painter born in Gaillac in 1879 and died in Paris in 1954.
A student of Laurens, he was a member of the Salon des Artistes Français. Some of his works are housed in museums in Toulouse, Lille, Saint-Étienne, Gaillac, and Casablanca.
Gaston DUREL made several trips to North Africa and painted numerous Orientalist works.
