Title: Pair Of Venetian Nightstands Veneered In Cherry And Walnut – Late 19th Century
An elegant pair of Venetian nightstands made in the second half of the 19th century, inspired by the simple and refined forms of the Neoclassical and Empire styles that were prevalent in the Veneto region in the early 19th century. The two pieces are striking for the harmony of their proportions and the quality of their veneer, characterized by a refined geometric composition in cherry and walnut, embellished with burl wood borders and thin fillets in a darker wood, likely rosewood. The structure is enhanced by elegant mirrored panels that highlight the natural grain of the wood.Particularly noteworthy is the cleanness of the lines: the absence of redundant decorative elements and the presence of simple molded frames evoke a typically Venetian tradition, in which the balance of proportions and the quality of materials take precedence over ornamentation. Each nightstand features two practical drawers with metal knobs (recently replaced). Their compact size makes them easy to place either next to a bed or as small side tables in both classic and contemporary settings. The pieces are in excellent condition. The pieces have been restored with respect for their authenticity and show only minimal conservation work and small replacements consistent with their age and use over time.DimensionsWidth: 40 cmDepth: 27 cmHeight: 70 cmA particularly attractive pair of nightstands, combining elegance, functionality, and fine craftsmanship, an expression of late 19th-century Venetian cabinetmaking tradition. For further information, photos, or technical details, please do not hesitate to contact us.
