Early 19th Century Directory Fireplace Mirror With Paintings
Refined and unique fireplace mirror made of finely carved wood and gilded with pure gold leaf. The mirror features a frame with geometric friezes, legs with floral scrolls, and an upper section adorned with vases and plant festoons, culminating in a cymatium. At the center is a panel depicting a lateral male bust, in classical style. The mirror is composed of three parts, contemporary in style, and features a unique feature. The left side was painted later in lean tempera, depicting a bouquet of roses, and bears the artist's inscription. The artist is Garibaldo Cepparelli, a famous Tuscan landscape painter (1860-1931), who painted the mirror around the end of the 19th century in the Art Nouveau style and was likely its owner. This is a tasteful and refined mirror, capable of adding a touch of class and antiques to any space. Florentine manufacture, from the Directoire period, around the early 19th century.
