Pair Of Bronze Antique Oil Lamps - Maison Alphonse Giroux Paris, 19th Century
Superb pair of large Napoleon III (late 19th century) period oil lamps in bronze with brown patina and gilded decoration. The bases take the form of neoclassical urns or vases in the Baroque style, resting on a richly embellished quadripod base with foliage motifs. The bodies of the vases feature remarkable chasing in relief depicting animated scenes of putti (cherubs and cherubs) amid scrolls, draperies and garlands. The side handles are magnificently treated in large acanthus scrolls with gilded scrolls, bringing great dynamism and elegance to the silhouette. The lamps are complete with their original glassware:
- Tulip-shaped frosted glass globes adorned with delicate acid-etched floral motifs.
- Transparent white glass fireplaces in perfect condition.
