Around 1870: A Planter In Blackened Wood

Napoleon III period: planter in blackened wood with turned and cross-braced decoration enhanced with gold fillets and pastilles. It stands on a four-legged base connected by a brace, and retains its original zinc inner base. Representative of late 19th century taste, combining Japanese "bamboo" inspiration with the refinement of Second Empire ornamental furniture.
