Inspired by the stopper of the famous N°5 perfume bottle and the geometry of Paris's Place Vendôme, the octagonal case with its softened angles has become one of the most iconic watchmaking signatures of the late 20th century. Created at the instigation of Jacques Helleu, Chanel's artistic director, the Première marks the house's remarkable entry into the world of haute horlogerie.

Our example features an elegant lacquered black dial without indexes or numerals, true to the refined aesthetic intended by Chanel. The golden hands stand out soberly against the deep black background, while the crown is set with a distinctive black cabochon.

The watch is mounted on the famous black leather interlaced chain bracelet, directly inspired by the chains on the house's iconic bags. This combination of black and gold constitutes one of Chanel's most timeless aesthetic codes.

The case and bracelet are made of 20-micron gold-plated metal, as indicated by the original markings present on the watch and clasp.
