A splendid painting on panel depicting the charming and festive scene of the Adoration of the Shepherds, in the typical style of Venetian-Cretan art, where 16th-century Venetian painting by the Bassanos blends with Greco-Cretan culture.
It is a beautiful example of Venetian influence on its Mediterranean domains, which, with a particularly successful result, unites its own art with that of Byzantium.
Dating to the second half of the 17th century, it still retains the stylistic legacies of the previous century, and its excellent state of preservation—with vivid, perfectly preserved colors—allows for a clear appreciation of every detail.
