Pair Of Gilded Mercury Bronzes - Child Musicians - Charles X Period

Charming pair of small gilt bronze subjects (ormolu) representing child musicians, probably intended to decorate a piece of furniture or a clock.
The finely chased figures are dressed in Renaissance-inspired costumes, with remarkable feathered headdresses feathered and numerous decorative details.
One plays the flute,the other holds a lyre, while instruments rest at their feet.
Charles X period (circa1820-1830), in the refined taste diffused under influence of Duchesse de Berry, who was keen to revive decorative arts.
Mercury gilding, of great finesse is well preserved and has not been cleaned.
These decorative elements, both elegant and delicate, are now rare;
Dimensions Height: 9.5 cm, Width: 5 cm
Good condition. Bronzes were fixed with three points each (two nails still in place).
Note: slight traces of use consistent with age.
Original gilding in very good condition, not cleaned.
